Income Support
Oxford County administers the Ontario Works program which provides temporary financial assistance and employment support to individuals and families who are in immediate financial need. Applications for the Ontario Works program are completed online and initial eligibility is determined by the provincial Social Assistance Intake Unit.
This assistance is for people who are temporarily caring for a child that is not their natural (biological) or adoptive child. A temporary care provider could be a grandparent, relative, friend, etc.
If you think someone is receiving Ontario Works that they are not entitled to, you can report this as a suspected fraud by:
- Contacting the Welfare Fraud Hotline at 1-800-394-7867
- Using the online Welfare Fraud Online Reporting Form
If you think someone is receiving a rent or child subsidy they are not entitled to. you can report this by:

- Contacting Oxford County Human Services at 519-539-9800, toll-free 1-800-265-1015 or email humanservices@oxfordcounty.ca
You can choose to remain anonymous when reporting suspected fraud.
