PUBLIC NOTICE
Pesticide use
For invasive plant species (Phragmites) roadside control program
Oxford County will be applying pesticide within the road allowance along rural roadsides to control the invasive plant, Phragmites.
The pesticide application will take place in the Townships of Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Norwich, South-West Oxford and Zorra, and in the Town of Tillsonburg, Town of Ingersoll and City of Woodstock.
Oxford County will use the following pesticide registered under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada):
- VisionMAX Silviculture Herbicide (PCP Registration No. 27736), which contains the active ingredient Glyphosate, present as potassium salt
This work is being completed under the Public Works Exception to the Cosmetic Pesticides Ban Act for the promotion of public health and safety.
Pesticide application will take place on the following Oxford County rural roads: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 33, 34, 36, 37, 40, 45, 46, 55, 59, 60 and 119.
Pesticide application is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026, and end on October 9, 2026.
The commencement date is approximate and weather permitting. Additional information regarding the Phragmites control program is available on the Oxford County website at www.oxfordcounty.ca/phragmites.
