Tavistock paramedic station

Oxford County Council is being asked to approve a 25-year lease agreement with the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock to establish a permanent paramedic station on William Street South in Tavistock, replacing a temporary site that is nearing the end of its availability. If approved, the station will be built as an addition to an existing East Zorra-Tavistock Public Works facility, with some of the operating costs for the joint facility to be shared between the County and the Township. The operation of an ambulance station in Tavistock is a key step to improving rural response times by Oxford County Paramedic Services.

Oxford County Library – Mount Elgin branch

Oxford County Library is seeking approval to enter into an agreement with the Township of South-West Oxford that would allow the Mount Elgin branch to move into the Township’s new Mount Elgin Community Hub. With Mount Elgin’s growing population, there is increasing demand for library services, programming, technology access, and community space. The proposed new location would create a modern library space alongside municipal and childcare services, improving community connection and access to public services. The project would also improve accessibility through barrier-free design for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families with young children.

Woodingford Lodge quarterly report

County Council receives the quarterly report from Woodingford Lodge’s Committee of Management next council meeting. The report shows the long-term care home’s Woodstock, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg sites continue to demonstrate strong governance, compliance and operational performance, while focusing on improvements in resident outcomes, safety and experience. Report highlights include:

Resident acuity (severity of health conditions) of residents continued to increase, requiring higher and more complex levels of care.
Recruitment efforts are ongoing for registered nurse practitioners, a role for which there is high competition across the healthcare sector.
Occupancy rates remained high at Woodingford over the past quarter at approximately 99% capacity. The waitlist of people waiting for placement at Woodingford is currently just over 1,000 people.

The report also notes Woodingford Lodge has been selected as one of three Ontario long-term care homes to receive funding from the provincial Community Access to Long-Term Care program this year. Woodingford will receive $1.07 million to expand its Adult Day Program to seven days a week, increasing access to physiotherapy, personal care and bathing, foot and hair care, health and wellness education, and caregiver supports for seniors in the community waiting for long-term care placement.
