Active Transportation Advisory Committee

Cycling photoOxford County's Active Transportation Advisory Committee works with County staff and community partners to provide advice and recommendations to County Council on how to promote all modes of active transportation and low-carbon travel options in our communities.

To learn more about active transportation activities and resources in your community, please check the resources below.

What is active transportation?

The Government of Canada defines active transportation as using your own power to get from one place to another, for instance, walking, biking, skateboarding, running, cross-country skiing and more. Active transportation is promoted by governments and public health agencies because it benefits people and communities, providing opportunities for physical fitness and social exchanges while also helping to reduce road congestion and reduce green house gases.
