Next phase of Oxford Road 2 (Dundas Street) reconstruction in Woodstock to start July 27
Beginning next Monday, July 27, Oxford Road 2 (Dundas Street) reconstruction in Woodstock will extend to the area between Oxford Road 9 (Ingersoll Road) to just west of Oxford Road 12 (Mill Street). A full update is available at www.oxfordcounty.ca/construction
We have noted questions about the pedestrian refuge island now installed just east of the overhead rail bridge. This type of feature is for pedestrian safety while crossing high traffic, multi-lane roads, and has been installed here as part of a new crosswalk to connect the City of Woodstock trail system. Please note the crosswalk will not be operational until the fall. Temporary signage will be added next week showing this section is closed to pedestrian traffic until that time.
During this next stage of construction, there will be no access to Oxford Road 2 (Dundas Street) from Oxford Road 12 (Mill Street). Local traffic must enter from the west using the marked detour or nearby side streets.
The main detour route remains in place using Oxford Road 30, Oxford Road 17 and Oxford Road 59 (Vansittart Avenue). A secondary detour will be in place using Oxford Road 9, Main Street and Oxford Road 12.
While Oxford County makes every effort to complete projects as efficiently as possible, construction timelines are estimates only and depend on weather, contractor availability and other factors. For more information including details on each phase of the project and a map of the detour routes, visit www.oxfordcounty.ca/construction.
