Logistics Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for inventory and asset management utilizing computerized asset control systems, facilitating equipment and vehicle maintenance programs, and coordinating daily logistical support for the Paramedic Service.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides the following support:
    • Coordinates the ordering, receiving and stocking of supplies (including medical, uniforms and equipment) to maintain appropriate levels. Performs cycle counts, reconciles equipment and stock inventory, resolves urgent requests, and as well as warranty and recall administration. Replaces or removes old, expired or broken inventory/equipment (ie. Linen, oxygen tanks, medical supplies etc.).
    • Delivers inventory orders to facilities throughout the County as per the established schedule and conducts inventory/supply audits as required.  Matches invoices/shipping receipts for auditing purposes.
    • Coordinates the monitoring and optimization of station stockrooms, inventory levels, stock rotations, workflow and layouts, and responsible for biohazard disposal, expired medication disposal etc. 
    • Maintains relevant records in the computerized inventory control system. 
    • Conducts and/or schedules routine and preventative maintenance and service on specialized patient carrying, ambulance and vehicle equipment in accordance with established standards. Creates and maintains relevant records including user manuals.
  • Generates work reports for inventory and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment, response bags, bins, etc. 
  • Researching, sourcing, coordinating and evaluating the roll out of new products, product trials, and product recalls within the system.
  • Coordinates daily functions with the Divisional Superintendents.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of information as per The Municipal Freedom of Information Protection and Privacy Act (MFIPPA), The Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and comply with Provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Respond to mass casualty incidents (MCI’s) with required additional supplies for the care and treatment of patients as part of the logistics response during an Incident Command Structure situation.
  • Support the corporate emergency management program and associated IMS functions.
  • Coordinates events and oversees the daily activities of the Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance team, students and those on modified duties assigned to the Logistics division.
  • Ensure all station and storage facilities are in safe working condition, identifying and addressing deficiencies, reporting and following up with Superintendent of Logistics as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or related discipline. Additional training for industry-specific equipment maintenance and repair, such as conveyance equipment and oxygen equipment testing, is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a warehouse and material handling environment such as supply chain management, shipping and receiving, or performing vehicle or equipment maintenance. Experience working in health care or emergency services is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory/fleet management software, database and business intelligence tools
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of relevant trends and legislation, best practices, and regulations such as the Provincial Equipment Standards for Ontario Ambulance Services. General mechanical aptitude is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple deadlines and changing priorities, while taking direction from multiple individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver programs or services. 
  • Understanding of role specific health and safety responsibilities, and ensured compliance with internal and external safety policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • A valid Class "G" Driver’s Licence in good standing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work extended days with the potential of occasional nights and weekend shifts as required.
  • Works both in an office environment as well as a warehouse and garage.
  • Requires physical effort such as handling, carrying, loading and unloading heavy supplies and equipment independently up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, parasites and other bio-hazards.
  • Occasional exposure to emergency situations.
  • Driving in various weather conditions.
