POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Nutritional Services:
- FOODSW: Helps prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with the resident’s diet requirements at mealtimes, sets and clears dining rooms, is responsible for the washing of all dishes, silverware, pots and pans, the preparation of vegetables and assisting with serving in dining rooms.
- Cook: Prepare food for three meals per day for all residents and assume some duties of the Supervisor of Nutritional Services in their absence. Prepares, cooks, bakes, and serves a variety of food from a planned menu and gives direction to staff in a municipal home for the aged.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, and value statements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- FOODSW: Enrolment or completion of the Food Service Worker certificate is an asset. Will consider experience in healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings. Ability to understand both written and verbal instructions. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and multi-task. Skilled in the use of computers and related software applications.
- Cook: Must have Institutional, Healthcare or Restaurant cooking experience. Culinary Management, Chef training or Red Seal preferred.
- Must have current Food Handler certificate.
