New Wasteline newsletter delivers waste services updates to your doorstep
Oxford County is launching the new “Wasteline” newsletter this summer, featuring updates on upcoming changes to curbside collection, launch of the new organics program, construction at the Waste Management Facility and more.
The newsletter is being mailed to homes across all of Oxford County as part of a pilot project to test how effective it is in sharing shorter, more frequent and time-sensitive updates about waste services. Residents who share their opinion on the new publication by filling out a short feedback form will have a chance to win a prize of 30 bag tags.
A key area of focus in the first issue of Wasteline is upcoming changes to waste collection programs in Oxford County starting in 2026. These include:
- A new organics, or green bin, program to collect food scraps and other biodegradable waste. Organics collection starts in South-West Oxford and Woodstock in January 2026 and in all other area municipalities (Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Norwich, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and Zorra) in May 2027. Residents living in South-West Oxford and Woodstock will receive their green bin containers this fall.
- Six-day collection cycles for both garbage and organic waste will be in effect in Woodstock and South-West Oxford starting January 2026 (South-West Oxford already follows a six-day cycle for garbage) and in all other area municipalities in May 2027. This type of schedule moves your collection day forward one day from week to week, skipping weekends and holidays.
- The move to a new province-wide recycling program for all Oxford County residents beginning January 1, 2026. More information and a list acceptable materials for the new blue box program will be sent to homes from Circular Materials this fall. Recycling pick-up days are directed by Circular Materials and may be different from garbage and green bin collection days.
Oxford County is also using the newsletter to raise awareness of a new curbside recycling collection program for small businesses, commercial properties, and institutions, including not-for-profit and public sector organizations. Many of these groups will not be eligible for recycling collection under the new province-wide program that starts in Oxford County in January 2026. In response, in February 2025, Oxford County Council approved the development of a local recycling program to continue to offer recycling collection to these groups.

Oxford County is assessing the Wasteline newsletter alongside potential changes to the annual Wasteline calendar, which shares both program information and collection schedules. New collection schedules for 2026 will be mailed to homes this fall. If you do not receive the newsletter within a few weeks and believe you should have, please email info@wasteline.ca.
