NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE

Oxford Road 2 (Dundas Street) corridor improvements, Thamesford

About this project

Oxford County has retained J.L. Richards & Associates Ltd. to design improvements on Oxford Road 2 (Dundas Street) in Thamesford in the Township of Zorra. These improvements are based on recommendations from a comprehensive corridor study and are intended to accommodate increased traffic volumes associated with ongoing and future developments in the area.

Key features currently in the design include:

  • Removing on-street parking to add a centre two-way left turn lane along Dundas Street between Stanley Street North and Allen Street/St. Patrick Street
  • Consideration of new signals at George Street and Oxford Road 119/Milton Street
  • Intersection modifications to improve visibility
  • Completing some accessibility upgrades and improving signal coordination
  • Enhancing street lighting and reviewing proposed long-term corridor improvements

We want to hear from you

A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held to allow the public to view plans and discuss the project with Public Works Engineering staff and the design team.

The Public Information Centre will be held:

Wednesday, July 23, 2025
Drop-in: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Beaty Room, Thamesford Library, 165 Dundas St, Thamesford

Information will be available on both the short-term improvements outlined on the previous page and the long-term traffic control and roadway changes proposed for phased implementation in the future. The long-term vision for the corridor includes more extensive measures such as:

  • Reviewing proposed double-lane roundabout at the intersection of Oxford Road 2 (Dundas Street) and 15th Line
  • Widening Dundas Street to four lanes with a raised median
  • Restricting left-turns to major intersections
  • Evaluate the closure of Church Street access to Dundas Street
  • Assess signal warrant at Dundas Street and Stanley Street
  • Completing additional accessibility upgrades

The proposed long-term changes are being assessed for their feasibility, future performance, and timing requirements, with consideration given to environmental approvals and land needs.

Preliminary design drawings can be viewed online at www.oxfordcounty.ca/speakup

To help maintain transparency throughout the design phase, Oxford County is planning a second public meeting later in 2025.
