Zero Waste Oxford Committee seeking new members who are passionate about reducing waste
Make a difference in your community by joining the Zero Waste Oxford Committee
Oxford County is inviting residents and business owners to join Zero Waste Oxford. Zero Waste Oxford is a citizen and business advisory group dedicated to supporting and promoting waste reduction initiatives across Oxford County as outlined in the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.
Zero Waste Oxford is a community-based group sponsored by Oxford County that provides feedback and ideas to staff on waste management and diversion programs, helps build community partnerships, and promotes actions that move the County toward its long-term goal of zero waste. One of the key pillars in the strategic plan is Enhancing Environmental Sustainability, which includes efforts to reduce waste generation/disposal, maximize resource recovery, and promote a Circular Economy.
Zero Waste Oxford is seeking up to 10 new members from across Oxford County to bring forward a resident or business perspective. The group meets virtually through video conferencing on the third Wednesday of each month.
In the past, Zero Waste Oxford supported a variety of local initiatives, including the Zero Waste Spaces program, which recognizes organizations that have taken steps to reduce waste; community education through publications like the Zero Waste Event Planning Guide; local events including the Great Pumpkin Rescue; and awareness campaigns during Waste Reduction Week that highlight reuse, repair, and circular economy solutions. Zero Waste Oxford supports County waste-reduction objectives through ongoing collaboration and community engagement.
