Warden’s statement on the passing of Oxford County Library Board Chair Julia Harris

On behalf of Oxford County Council, I would like to extend heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Julia Harris, Chair of the Oxford County Library Board and a beloved patron at the Ingersoll branch.
Julia was first appointed to the Library Board in 2019 and became Chair in 2023. Known for her kindness and thoughtfulness as a board member, she was also a strong advocate for library services and the communities they serve. During her tenure as board chair, Julia guided several important initiatives, including the "Ox on the Run" pilot project, which delivers mobile library services to rural areas, the development of the library’s new Strategic Plan, and a facilities plan focused on modernizing library spaces.
A lifelong resident of Ingersoll, Julia was a familiar face at the Ingersoll branch, where she often sought book recommendations from staff and participated in library programs. Having had the privilege of serving alongside Julia on the Library Board from 2019 to 2022, I witnessed firsthand the generosity and dedication she brought to serving others. I know she will be deeply missed by her board colleagues, library staff, patrons, and the community she represented so faithfully.
Flags at the Oxford County Administration Building will be flown at half-mast in memory of Julia Harris.
