December 24, 2022 - 10: 30 a.m. - Update
Oxford County snow plows have been clearing County (rural) roads throughout the morning. Roads remain icy: please avoid travel if possible. Visibility is near zero on some County roads and there is heavy snow drifting in the Drumbo area. If you must travel, go slow, make sure all your lights are on, and pack a winter vehicle emergency kit.
If you are driving behind a snow plow, stay back, be patient, and don’t try to pass. Plowing creates a cloud of snow that can decrease visibility and simulate whiteout conditions. More information is at https://www.oxfordcounty.ca/.../servi.../winter-driving.aspx
Thank you to everyone who shared our Significant Weather Event last evening. Some of you had questions about the decision to pull snow plow drivers off the road before 11:00 p.m. This decision is not made easily: it is a last resort when weather conditions are serious enough they endanger plow drivers and roads are not remaining clear or passable after plowing. Our drivers and vehicles are ready for immediate deployment once extreme weather conditions subside to a point that roads can be maintained.

Oxford County has declared a Significant Weather Event. This means snow plows are being pulled off the road this evening due to unsafe conditions and will resume operating at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, December 24, 2022.
