Ambulance response times

Oxford County Paramedic Services brings forward its annual response time performance plan next council meeting. The plan shows that Oxford met its response time targets in 2024, and that Oxford’s response time targets remain in line with many other Ontario municipalities. It is also noted that with high population growth in Oxford’s communities, provincial targets for acute emergency calls could be impacted in future years. The addition of ambulance hours in Woodstock has had a positive impact on response times this year.

Oxford County paramedics responded to 23,065 emergency calls in 2024, an 8.5% increase over 2023.

Official Plan updates to improve development processes

Oxford County Council receives an update on proposed changes to the implementation polices contained in the Official Plan next council meeting. Implementation policies include the various community planning tools and related details that are used when processing applications for development and implement the objectives of the Official Plan, such as requirements for zoning by-law amendments, subdivisions, public consultation and more. The report notes that a number of changes to the Planning Act have occurred in recent years, and updating the Official Plan will help improve planning requirements; provide greater consistency and efficiency for development processes; and support improving policies and tools for the County and area municipalities. The report also seeks Council’s direction to begin the formal Official Plan Amendment process, which includes broad stakeholder consultation.
