Climate hazard assessment
County Council receives a Climate Hazard Assessment prepared for Oxford County at the March 25 council meeting. Funded through the Canadian Green Municipal Fund, the independent, third-party report identifies the natural hazards most relevant for Oxford’s municipalities --extreme heat, extreme precipitation, and freeze/thaw events-- and the potential effects these may have on County services and infrastructure.

Tax policy
County Council will review the proposed tax policy for 2026 next council meeting. Each year, County Council approves the tax policy that determines how taxes are applied across the different tax classes, for instance, residential, farm, commercial, etc. Among the policy decisions Council is being asked to consider for this year are eliminating the vacant and excess land tax subclass and implementing the subclass discount for small-scale on-farm businesses. The by-law to put the County’s tax policy into effect is scheduled for the April 8 council meeting.
