Road safety measures in townships
County Council will consider a number of proposed road safety measures for Oxford townships next council meeting. The recommendations follow speed management, traffic calming and road safety reviews and post-monitoring follow up studies for Windfall, Gobles, Washington, Plattsville, Innerkip, Tavistock, North of Norwich, Norwich, Eastwood, Holbrook, Otterville, Brooksdale, Dickson’s Corners and Verschoyle. Some of the proposed measures for these communities include speed zone and/or speed limit adjustments, flexible centreline delineators, and electronic speed feedback signs.
Oxford County regularly undertakes speed management, traffic calming, and road safety reviews to improve safety for all road users. These are followed by post-monitoring studies after changes are made to evaluate how effective traffic calming measures were in reducing vehicle speeds, or if additional measures are needed.
Annual drinking water system reports
County Council receives the 2025 Annual Water System Performance Summary reports on February 25. At the time of the Council report, results were available for 11 of Oxford’s municipal drinking water system inspections completed by Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. Nine systems received a 100% inspection rating (Beachville, Brownsville, Drumbo-Princeton, Embro, Hickson, Ingersoll, Innerkip, Lakeside and Plattsville) and two systems received a 97% rating (Mount Elgin and Thamesford). The remaining system inspection report ratings were either not available at the time of the Council report or the inspection had not yet been carried out.
The County treated and supplied approximately 11.9 million cubic metres of clean, safe and reliable drinking water to 21 communities through 17 municipal drinking water systems last year. The report notes that demand has increased in 12 municipal drinking water systems since 2024, particularly in Woodstock and Tillsonburg, reflecting a growing need for additional resources to maintain service levels.

Updates to planning implementation policies
County Council is being asked to approve a number of updates to the Oxford County Official Plan policies that provide direction on how various community planning processes are carried out. The proposed updates, which were first presented to County Council in draft form in September 2025, include updated measures to support further streamlining of planning approvals at both the County and area municipal level; provide greater clarity for users of the policies; and ensure consistency with current provincial policies and regulations.
