Election of Deputy Warden

County Council will elect a Deputy Warden on December 10 for a one-year term. The election of the Deputy Warden, who assumes the responsibilities of the Warden if absent, is decided before the start of each new year in the Council term. In 2025, the role of Deputy Warden has been held by Councillor Brian Petrie, Mayor of Town of Ingersoll.

2026 Business Plan and Budget

Oxford County Council will make final motions on December 10 before considering the updated Draft 2026 Business Plan and Budget for approval. Council motions are requested changes to the County’s draft budget-- either removals or additions-- which are then voted on by all members of council. A total of 23 notices of motion have been tabled for discussion at the December 10 council meeting.

The updated draft general levy, which is the part of the County budget funded through taxes, is currently proposed at $96.6 million, a 7.6% increase over 2025. The draft budget has been adjusted since it was first presented to County Council with new information from Southwestern Public Health and the four local Conservation Authorities whose budgets are partially funded by the County. Any notices of motion that are passed on December 10 would further adjust the final budget.
