Update on snow plow operations
Oxford County has declared a significant weather event for County roads today, February 17. This means snow plows are unable to keep ahead of drifting snow in rural areas outside of Ingersoll, Woodstock and Tillsonburg boundaries due to high winds.
Snow plows are continuing to work to clear roads but may not be able to continue into the evening with reduced visibility, blowing snow, and long shifts already operated over this weekend that put our drivers at risk of fatigue. After this evening, plows will resume operating at 4:00 a.m. tomorrow, February 18.
If you must travel, go slow, make sure all your lights are on, and pack a winter vehicle emergency kit. If you are driving behind a snow plow, stay back, be patient, and don’t try to pass. Plowing creates a cloud of snow that can decrease visibility and simulate whiteout conditions.
