Oxford County Water Capacity Buy-Back Program now accepting applications
Financial incentives for local businesses help reduce water bills and contribute to sustainable water management
The Oxford County Water Capacity Buy-Back Program is now accepting applications from local businesses for water conservation projects that reduce water consumption and contribute to sustainable water management.
Through the program, local businesses, industries, institutions, commercial properties and multi-residential units could receive rebates of up to 50% of the total project costs for water-conscious upgrades and retrofits to a maximum of $100,000.
Businesses in Oxford County can apply for a water capacity buy-back rebate through one of the following projects:
- Retrofit: Replacing high water use fixtures (such as shower heads, faucets, toilets, dishwashers, washing machines, rinse tanks, etc.) with lower-flow options.
- Upgrade: Implementing greywater (water from sinks or washing machines) reuse or rainwater harvesting projects (such as blue roof or cistern for vehicle washing, etc.).
- Process optimization: Altering or adapting industrial processes or technology to conserve water (e.g., by using process water recirculation/recovery, water-smart irrigation systems, cooling tower replacement, etc.), with the potential to show the savings through a water audit.
The Water Capacity Buy-Back Program offers local businesses a chance to be known as water-conscious businesses by demonstrating corporate responsibility through environmental sustainability. Water conservation benefits the community by helping to conserve our groundwater resources and promoting environmental sustainability.
The Water Capacity Buy-Back Program is part of the County’s Strategic Plan commitment to the long-term sustainability of its environment, financial resources, and infrastructure.
