Employment services update

County Council receives an update on Ontario’s Employment Service Transformation (EST) program next council meeting. The new model, first announced in 2019 and expected to fully roll-out in 2025, moves employment services for Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program clients under Employment Ontario. Oxford County was responsible for employment services for these client groups before the transition to the EST program, and staff will continue to provide service through referrals to local Employment Ontario providers among other supports.

Woodingford Lodge Committee of Management report

Woodingford Lodge’s quarterly Committee of Management report is before County Council next meeting. Highlights from the report include:

  • Woodingford Lodge locations underwent nine Ministry of Long-Term Care inspections in 2024, with no compliance orders issued. This reflects the high standard of care within the home.
  • Hospital transfers decreased over the past year following a number of new initiatives to reduce emergency room visits, including specialized health care training and enhanced staffing.
  • Woodingford’s Family Transition Program supported more than 100 intakes into long-term care in 2024 and 134 caregivers.

A Committee of Management is a requirement under the Fixing Long Term Care Act and is responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements outlined the Act.
