Construction to begin June 16 at Oxford County's Waste Management Facility
Site-improvement project will temporarily affect traffic flow
Construction begins June 16 at Oxford County’s Waste Management Facility to replace the inbound scale with a new 80-foot model designed for larger vehicles. This work marks the second phase of a site-improvement project that began in 2022 with the addition of a second scale (for outbound traffic) and a new scale house.
During construction, which is expected to last five to seven weeks, all vehicles will share a single scale for entry and exit. Customers should expect delays and are encouraged to plan ahead. Additional gates and flag people will help manage traffic flow, ensuring everyone can access the facility efficiently and safely.
Oxford County weighs all vehicles at the Waste Management Facility for reporting and monitoring purposes. A tipping fee applies to loads containing garbage (mixed solid waste) and construction or demolition materials. Diversion programs for materials such as cardboard, bulky Styrofoam, plastic film, electronics, and scrap metal remain free of charge. Residential customers can also drop off household hazardous waste and leaf and yard waste at no cost.
Oxford County's Waste Management Facility (landfill) is a one-stop shop for residents and businesses in Oxford County to dispose of garbage and recyclable material. Regular operating hours for the Oxford County Waste Management Facility are Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, including construction updates, please visit www.wasteline.ca.
