Boil water advisory issued for northeast corner of Plattsville
A boil water advisory has been issued by the Southwestern Public Health Medical Officer of Health for residents connected to the municipal water supply in the northeast corner of Plattsville.
Affected areas are:
- East of Platt Street North to Hofstetter Road
- Albert Street East (both sides) to Hilborn Street
Public Health advises residents to boil their tap water or use bottled water for drinking, making infant formula or juice, cooking, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, or brushing their teeth until they receive further notice.
To use boiled water, Public Health recommends bringing water to a rolling boil for one minute then allowing it to cool. It may then be stored in clean containers.
The advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure due to the potential for contamination of the drinking water system following a watermain break today, April 29. Oxford County staff are at the site collecting samples and working with Southwestern Public Health. Affected residents will be notified when they can return to normal use.
