Boil water advisory issued for Mount Elgin
A boil water advisory has been issued by the Southwestern Public Health Medical Officer of Health for residents connected to the municipal water supply in Mount Elgin.
Until further notice, Public Health advises residents to boil their tap water or use bottled water for drinking, making infant formula or juice, cooking, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, or brushing their teeth.
To use boiled water, Public Health recommends bringing water to a rolling boil for one minute then allowing it to cool. It may then be stored in clean containers.
This advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure due to the potential for contamination of the drinking water system following a pressure loss this evening. All users of the Mount Elgin water system are being notified about the boil water advisory tonight and will be notified again when they can return to normal water use.
