POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports the Strategic Communication & Engagement team by providing high-quality, high-impact visual communication materials that support the effective and efficient delivery of Oxford County projects and initiatives, strategic priorities, and communication and engagement activities.
KEY ACOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for and supports the following:
- Designing, creating, assessing and editing digital and print communication materials, including publications, marketing material, social media and web graphics, videos, multi-media presentations and other materials.
- Producing, retouching and editing photographic and video assets.
- Preparing design files for various output methods (e.g., printing or web publishing), ensuring correct formats, resolutions and colour profiles.
- Ensuring visual communication tools are aligned to best practices by following corporate identity standards and remaining informed on design trends and tools.
- Liaises with internal clients, community partners and vendors as necessary and appropriate.
- Receives and attempts to resolve service-related complaints, concerns and questions in a timely and responsive manner. Refers and escalates to the appropriate individual as necessary.
- Supports the organization’s programs and services by promoting the County’s Strategic Plan, sustainability and well-being plans, best practices, internal policies, and applicable legislation in order to meet service excellence standards and uphold Oxford’s vision, mission and values.
- Ensures compliance with internal and external safety policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including occasional writing and social media support.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS
- Post-secondary education in graphic design, visual communication, media fundamentals, digital media, marketing communications or a related program.
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro) and experienced with file management and file transfer systems.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Videography, video editing and photography skills.
- Well-versed in accessible design practices to ensure work is inclusive and compliant with accessibility standards for various media, including digital, print and environmental applications (e.g., wayfinding signs).
- Strong knowledge of social media tools and styles, web design and printing processes.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong proofreading ability.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both an independent and team environment, with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate the required competencies for this position in alignment with Oxford County’s competency framework.
