POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Nutritional Services, helps prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with the resident's diet requirements at meal times, sets and clears dining rooms, is responsible for the washing of all dishes, silverware, pots and pans, the preparation of vegetables and assisting with serving in dining rooms. Performs all duties in accordance to the organizations mission, vision and value statements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Portions out and serves food and beverages, i.e. waits on tables.
- Familiarizes self with residents' diet requirements.
- Prepares food trays for various areas in Lodge.
- Clears dishes from dining room tables.
- Cleans dining room table prior to setting with dishes for next meal.
- Refills condiments in resident dining rooms.
- Cleans refrigerator and surrounding areas in resident family friendly areas, and servery.
- Ensures excess food from serveries is returned to cooks in main kitchen or dispose of, if the cooks have no need for the item.
- Processing dishes including pots and pans through the dishwasher.
- Disposes of garbage and ensures all recyclables are disposed of properly.
- Cleans equipment and work areas within kitchen, servery and dining rooms including mopping of floors according to assigned sheets; mops up any spills that may occur.
- Put dishes away in proper area.
- Prepares vegetable, and assists cook with food preparation as needed.
- Transport food carts to serving areas.
- Collects guest meal tickets from guest prior to serving a guest meal.
- Receive frozen and dry goods; checks that all stock is received and puts stock away; rotates stock as required
- Records temperatures for fridges, food and dishwasher as assigned.
- Record any leftover food or food that is short on appropriate daily over/under food record sheets.
- Make appropriate changes to spreadsheet and menu boards when advised to do so for menu substitutions or other menu changes.
- Trains and orientates new staff.
- Attends in-services and educational programs as assigned.
- Provide person and family centred care to support physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the resident.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to understand both written and verbal communication.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Must be in possession of a valid Food Handler certificate.
- Food Service Worker certificate is an asset. Will consider experience in institutional healthcare, restaurant or hospitality settings.
