POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Preparedness Officer will lead the development and implementation of the Crisis Management Platform to centralize and streamline emergency management processes within the organization. The Emergency Preparedness Officer will support the development of protocols for the deployment of the evacuation shelter trailer by area municipal partners and engage with internal departments, local municipalities and private stakeholders to address the hazards of abandoned oil and gas wells.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provides the following support:
- Assist with setting up and configuring new crisis management software for our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to organize and access critical information quickly, effectively coordinate emergency response activities and improve communication between County Emergency Control Group members. Develop and populate the required components of the EOC software, including digital plans, checklists, forms, and templates, to automate the emergency management process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues as they arise.
- Develop training material for members of the County Emergency Control Group, who will be required to utilize the software during an emergency.
- Conduct training sessions for members of the County Emergency Control Group staff to ensure their proficiency in using the new software.
- Arrange supplies and equipment in the Evacuation Shelter Supplies trailer, ensuring the storage area is organized and accessible, and develop procedures for efficient distribution and restocking.
- Input the evacuation shelter supplies inventory into the inventory management software (Operative IQ).
- Develop procedures for regular inventory and post-event checks.
- Develop procedures for activating and deploying the evacuation shelter supplies trailer in collaboration with Human Services. Assist with the design and delivery of a joint exercise between the County and the area municipalities utilizing the trailer's deployment.
- Monitor and evaluate the deployment procedures to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate project activities, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within scope.
- Communicate project progress and updates to stakeholders regularly.
- Manage project documentation and ensure all records are accurate and up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
- Post-secondary education in Emergency Management or a related discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to develop and implement efficient inventory and deployment procedures.
- Familiarity with emergency management logistics is an asset.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self motivated and capable of working independently.
- Understanding of role specific health and safety responsibilities, and ensured compliance with internal and external safety policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- A Valid Class “G” Driver’s licence in good standing.
