Update on speed management and traffic calming improvements in Township of South-West Oxford

With strong population growth and increased traffic across our communities, Oxford County regularly undertakes speed  management, traffic calming, and road safety reviews. Part of this work includes post monitoring after recommendations have been carried out to: 

  • evaluate how effective traffic calming measures were in reducing vehicle speeds; and,

Update on snow plow operations (Feb 17)

Oxford County has declared a significant weather event for County roads today, February 17. This means snow plows are unable to keep ahead of drifting snow in rural areas outside of Ingersoll, Woodstock and Tillsonburg boundaries due to high winds. Snow plows are continuing to work to clear roads but may not be able to continue into the evening with reduced visibility, blowing snow, and long shifts already operated over this weekend that put our drivers at risk of fatigue. Waste collection cancelled in Zorra Township (Feb 17)

Due to poor visibility, high winds and poor road conditions, the rural areas in Zorra Township will not receive curbside collection today, Monday, February 17. Residents are asked to bring in their waste and recycling set-outs and either hold on to their material until next week or bring it to the Oxford County Waste Management Facility. Curbside collection will be completed in Thamesford, Embro and Ingersoll today.

Oxford County closures (Feb 13)

Due to weather, some Oxford County programs and services have been impacted.

Garbage and recycling: Collections will be slow today and residents may notice a change in their collection time.

Oxford County Library: The Tillsonburg and Brownsville branches are closed today; the Norwich branch is to be determined. Several branches will open later than scheduled; visit www.ocl.net to confirm hours.
