Oxford County expands green fleet with battery electric trucks

Warden Marcus Ryan and Water Foreman Josh O'Leary showcased two new Ford F-150 Lightning trucks this week, the first of seven new battery electric vehicles being added to Oxford County’s green fleet.

The seven trucks replace existing fossil fuel vehicles that are scheduled for regular replacement in 2023 and 2024, a transition that will save an estimated 24,500 litres of gasoline each year for the first seven trucks.

Vansittart Avenue (Oxford Road 59) Bridge reduced to a single lane during construction

The Vansittart Avenue (Oxford Road 59) Bridge will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in both directions for two weeks.

Construction started on Wednesday, November 22, to allow for the relocation of Bell Canada infrastructure ahead of a bridge rehabilitation project next year. Expect delays for about two weeks during this project. Portable temporary traffic signals will be in place to help alternate traffic in both directions.
