Comments on Ontario’s housing supply roadmap

County Council will consider on April 27 proposed comments on Ontario’s More Home for Everyone Plan and related Bill 109, the More Homes For Everyone Act. The Province’s intent is to help increase the supply and availability of housing by introducing various measures to accelerate the development approval process and provide more housing options. The Province is currently seeking feedback from municipalities on several components of its housing plan, including opportunities to provide additional housing options for rural communities; increasing “missing middle” housing, such as duplexes, rowhouses, townhouses and low-rise apartments; and providing financial support for not-for-profit housing developers. With only 30 days to submit comments, the report notes that the County’s final submission will focus on the more significant impacts the Act and other proposed changes would have in Oxford County.
