Proclamation: Oxford Mackay Day

Read by Warden Larry Martin at the February 23, 2022, Oxford County Council meeting

The Canadian Mackay Committee (CMC) was founded in 2000 to promote the recognition of Oxford County native George Leslie Mackay as a Canadian of national historic importance, and to promote friendly relations between Taiwan and Canada through his commemoration, and through building relations between Oxford County and Tamsui, Taiwan. Zorra Township Mayor Marcus Ryan is also a member of the CMC. Over the past 20 years the CMC has worked to facilitate exchanges between Oxford County and Tamsui, and promote education about Rev. Mackay through many activities in Oxford County as well as visits to and from Tamsui, a sister city of Oxford County since 2000. For this reason, I would like to proclaim March 9, 2022 as "Oxford Mackay Day."
