Land ambulance response times

County Council will receive the proposed response time performance plan for 2023 from Oxford County Paramedic Services next Council meeting. Land ambulance services are required by the provincial government to monitor response times and to investigate instances where provincial standards were not met. The report shows Oxford County’s response times are consistent with other municipalities and also submits to the Province and the community that Paramedic Services plans to main consistent response times in 2023. In 2021, Paramedic Services responded to 17,250 emergency calls for service, an increase of 15.4% from the previous year.

Credit rating increase

Oxford County has received a AAA credit rating from Standard&Poor’s, raised from a previous rating of AA+ held for the past seven years. Standard&Poor’s made changes to how it assessed Canadian municipalities this year based in part on the strong financial performance of municipalities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The County’s rating was reinforced by its prudent financial management practices, strong budgetary performance, low debt, and exceptional liquidity position.

The Standard & Poor’s annual independent credit rating review is a key performance indicator that shows the state of the County’s financial performance and health, and is noteworthy this year considering the current economic climate. With this rating, the County is able to secure financing at a lower rate and to pursue higher yield investment opportunities that would not be permitted with lower ratings.
