Consultation on More Homes Built Faster Act

Under a tight deadline to submit comments on Ontario Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, first announced October 25, County staff is seeking Council approval to move ahead with a submission in the coming weeks. The staff report notes that the Bill proposes many legislative and other changes that could have significant impacts on local land use planning, development charges, environmental and heritage protections and more, and would require review of or updates to many municipal policies, programs and/or procedures.

A notable area of potential change would appear to allow up to three residential units in a home on most residential lots connected to municipal sewers and water services without the need for a zoning by-law amendment (“as of right”).
