Community Update: Oxford Road 5 from Oxford Road 8 to Oxford Road 24
Oxford County has awarded a contract to resurface Oxford Road 5 between Oxford Road 8 and Oxford Road 24 to Walker Construction Limited. The work includes asphalt padding, single surface treatment with stress absorbing material, and new pavement markings.
The first stage of the work is asphalt padding, followed by surface treatment resurfacing, and finally new pavement markings. Work is expected to take place between July 2021 and September 2021.
The road will remain open throughout construction, although lane restrictions and speed reductions should be expected. County staff and the contractor will make every reasonable effort to maintain access for residents and businesses within the active construction zone.
GARBAGE & RECYCLING PICK-UP
Please continue to have your regular household waste and recyclables to the roadside by 7:00 a.m. on your regular pick up day. If access for waste collection is interrupted by construction, the contractor will collect your bins and containers and take them to a central location for collection. Homeowners are asked to mark garbage and recycling containers with their house numbers so they can be returned to the correct properties.
Oxford County and all contractors/sub-contractors working on behalf of the County are committed to following the recommended precautionary measures, within other safety imperatives, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The work being undertaken on this project has been deemed essential to County infrastructure and is considered essential as per the provincial directives and mandates. An Oxford County inspector will be on-site periodically performing inspections of contractors' work and monitoring site activities.
