How County Council Decisions are Made

The issue or item requiring a decision is directed to the Council It is often referred to the right Department which recommends a course of action. The recommendation is recorded in the Council’s report of their regular meeting.

If the recommendation is adopted as printed in the report, then the authority exists to take action on the issue.

The Election Process

Elections are held every four years.  County Council members are the elected mayors of the Councils of seven of the Area Municipalities: Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Ingersoll, Norwich, South-West Oxford, Tillsonburg, and Zorra. In the case of Woodstock, the mayor and two Councillors who run for County/City positions are the representatives to County Council.
