The County of Oxford will be accepting electronic applications during the month of December for summer student positions. Summer employment opportunities begin in May, 2020, and last until the end of August, 2020. Please read the requirements below and send completed applications to We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.

To apply for any summer student positions, you must be:

  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Currently enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary program
  • Returning to a full-time post-secondary program in the fall of 2020.

Returning Students

If you are a student who previously worked for Oxford County and still meet the criteria above, please send an email to with the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • The department that you worked in and the name of your previous supervisor
  • If applicable - Do you still have an acceptable driver’s abstract?
  • Are you interested in returning to the same position you previously had?

Returning students will receive a follow up email from Human Resources.

Available Departments

There are a variety of Departments who are looking to hire summer students for 2020, so please read the below carefully and only apply for the positions that are of interest to you.


Public Works: Transportation Administration Summer Student or Co-op (4 Months)
 Wage: $16/hr

  • Shifts: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Located in Woodstock
  • G Licence required (and a clean driving record)
  • Qualifications: Enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in Transportation or related subject, and returning to full-time post-secondary in the fall.
  • Job duties: Providing support for Transportation (Roads) operations projects, such as asphalt crack sealing, trail corridor fencing, and phragmites control program. GPS surveying of road and storm infrastructure. Traffic counts, data management, coordination of traffic signal repair, and other duties as assigned. Working indoors and outdoors.

Public Works : Facilities Administration Co-op
 Wage: $18/hr

  • Shifts: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm,
    May 2020 – August 2020
  • Located in Woodstock
  • G Licence required (and a clean driver’s abstract)
  • Qualifications: Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Facilities Management or related discipline.
  • Job duties: Assisting with the overall management of County owned facilities and properties. A solid understanding of building components and systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office including excel is required. Working indoors and outdoors.

Note: Shift schedules may vary due to business requirements.

Woodingford Lodge (Long Term Care Home)

Personal Support Worker Student - Wage: $21.20/hr

  • Shifts: Must be able to work days, afternoon, and nights, Monday through Sunday.
  • Valid licence and personal vehicle required to travel to all 3 Woodingford Lodge locations (Woodstock, Ingersoll, and Tillsonburg).
  • Qualifications: Candidates who have hands on health care experience and are completing their first year as an RPN student or their second year as an RN student are welcome to apply.
  • Job duties: Providing personal care and support to residents, and possessing the ability and passion to support person and family centered care.
