Last phase of North Street reconstruction

The final stage in completing North Street reconstruction in Tillsonburg will be underway with Council’s approval of the construction award to Elgin Construction. Thamesford water and wastewater capacity

Council will consider on April 26 approval for a $500,000 retrofit of the Thamesford wastewater treatment facility. The retrofit is needed to adapt to the significant change in wastewater received once Maple Leaf Foods closes in 2018. The turkey processing plant accounted for 70-85% of wastewater treated in Thamesford. Completing the retrofit will ensure compliance with the County’s Environmental Compliance Approval for this treatment facility.

Affordable housing project expansion

County Council is being asked to approve $2.15 million in total funding for a 30 one-bedroom affordable housing unit on Blossom Park Road in Woodstock, expanding the original project planned for this site using funds from a withdrawn Tillsonburg housing project. The new units will be Oxford County’s first multi-residential affordable housing project built to Passive House standard, the leading international measure of energy efficient construction. The project is being funded by the province’s Social Infrastructure Fund and the Social Housing Reserve fund.
