Community Update: Oxford Road 59 Road Resurfacing - Norwich

Stover Street N (Main Street to North Limit of Norwich)

Oxford Road 59 Road Resurfacing

Stover Street N (Main Street to North Limit of Norwich)

Oxford County has awarded a contract to resurface Oxford Road 59 (Stover Street North) between Main Street intersection and the north limit of Norwich to Coco Paving Ltd. of Tecumseh, Ontario. The work includes concrete sidewalk and curb improvements/ replacements, appurtenances adjustments, cold-milling existing asphalt, hot mix asphalt paving, and pavement markings. Work is expected to take place between May 2021 and August 2021. Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change based on the contractor’s availability or other operational demands.

TRAFFIC CONTROL
Oxford Road 59 will be restricted to one lane of traffic controlled by traffic control persons/ pilot vehicles
during working hours. During non-working hours traffic will be reinstated to two lanes. Oxford Road 18 (Main Street) at Oxford Road 59 (Stover Street) will be closed to east and west bound traffic directly through the intersection for a limited period of time during cold-milling and hot mix asphalt paving operations in order to safely complete the proposed resurfacing work. A detour route with signage will be in place during the road closure. The contractor will be required to maintain access to all properties, but some short-term interruptions may occur while working in front of properties. Delays and interruptions can be expected during this work.

GARBAGE & RECYCLING PICK-UP
Please continue to have your regular household waste and recyclables to the roadside by 7 a.m. on your regular pick up day. If access for waste collection is interrupted by construction the Contractor will collect your bins and containers and take them to a central location for collection. Homeowners are asked and encouraged to mark garbage and recycling containers with their house number so they can be returned to the correct properties.

COVID-19
Oxford County and all contractors/sub-contractors working on behalf of the County are committed to following the recommended precautionary measures, within other safety imperatives, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The work being undertaken on this project has been deemed essential to County infrastructure and is considered essential as per the
provincial directives and mandates. An Oxford County inspector will be on site periodically performing inspection of contractors work and monitoring site activities.
