Update on Council vote for PW 2020-30 (Beachville, Hickson & Oxford Roads 2 & 5)

An amendment to Council Report on speed management and road safety was recorded as a 5-5 vote when, on video recording analysis, it should have been recorded as a 6-4 vote

At the July 8 County Council meeting a vote on an amendment to Council Report PW 2020-30 (Speed Management and Road Safety Reviews –Beachville, Hickson, Oxford Road 2 and Oxford Road 5) was recorded as a 5-5 vote when, on video recording analysis, it should have been recorded as a 6-4 vote. This means the recommended speed limit increases in that report will not move ahead, although other items, including the installation of speed feedback signs and school zone changes, will go ahead.

While County Council meetings by videoconference have presented challenges, including in this case the ability to clearly discern hand motions, we continue to adapt our meetings to this medium. Our thanks to the resident and Council delegate for bringing this to our attention so that it can be addressed again at the August 12 Council meeting.
