Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding offers many benefits to both mothers and babies.

Public Health supports and encourages mothers in their effort to breastfeed. Public Health Nurses are available for one-on-one support via phone and/or a home visit.

All mothers are welcome to attend Well Baby Clinics for ongoing support and information.

Prenatal breastfeeding classes are held monthly. This two-hour class offers practical “how-to” information for those parents who want to learn about breastfeeding.

For more detailed information about breastfeeding, please download the Breastfeeding Matters booklet published by Best Start.

Oxford County Public Health is working toward the designation of being a "Baby Friendly Community Health Service."
