Pre-kindergarten health screening

Good health has been linked to improved performance in school, and addressing any potential health concerns early ensures they won’t interfere with learning. 

Oxford County Public Health has been a long-time partner in helping kids and their parents plan a healthy start to the school years.

This January and February, parents or guardians who register their child for kindergarten will receive a health information package from their new school letting them know about community resources to help their child get ready for kindergarten. 

This package contains information about the following activities that Oxford County Public Health recommends as part of your child's pre-kindergarten health screening:

Is your child ready for school?

This online checklist for parents of children starting school soon helps parents to identify areas of socialization or development that may indicate a child’s readiness for school. Parents may choose to spend a little extra time working with their child on areas that might enhance their readiness for the school experience.
