A 2002 study done by the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse showed that substance misuse both in the workplace and at home led to lost productivity and premature death, and estimated the overall associated cost at $39.8 billion dollars1. In a typical workplace, 10-20% of employees abuse alcohol2 and two to seven percent use illicit drugs3.
